Lebron James is fascinating character in the story of the NBA. He started off as the boy king, dazzeld and was adored in Cleveland and then shit hit the fan when he went to Miami last season. Lebron took a major image hit as he became the most hated player in the NBA. Since that first season with the Heat Lebron has shown modesty and has voiced regret about the way he handled leaving Cleveland and his first season in Miami. As the image makeover continues Lebron has suggest that he make partake in the All-Star weekends Slam Dunk contest.
“I have thought about it before and a few times in the past I kind of had an ankle injury that kind of kept me out of it and a couple of times I was just like, ‘You know what, I’m going to go in here and rest my legs for this weekend and then get back to the regular season,” James said. “But, I mean, they say a lot of the greats have done it and I’ve watched it over the years.”
Lebron is right. The greats have all done it, albeit in the begginging of their careers not the prime. But it’s something that I think will Lebron his fans back. First off, it’d be great to see him laughing it up on court and bringing some excitement back to the carnival event that it’s become. Secondly, we’d see possibly one of the best Slam Dunk contests peformances of all time. Stack him up to against Blake Griffin and suddenly this is the main event of All-Start weekend. I say go for it Lebron, an extra weekend of jumping around will go much longer than resting those knees.
